Synthox 50 mcg is indicated for:

Moderate-dose replacement therapy in primary, secondary, or tertiary hypothyroidism.

Management of thyroid disorders such as goiter and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

Suppressive therapy in thyroid cancer patients.
Pharmacology
Levothyroxine, a synthetic thyroxine (T4), compensates for insufficient thyroid hormone levels, normalizing metabolism, energy production, and growth.
Dosage and Administration

Dosage:
Initial dose of 50 mcg daily, gradually adjusted based on TSH levels and clinical response. -
Administration:
Take orally on an empty stomach, preferably 30 minutes before breakfast.
Interaction

Reduced absorption when taken with iron, calcium, or antacids. Maintain a 4-hour gap.

Potential interactions with anticoagulants, antidiabetics, and hormonal contraceptives.
Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to Levothyroxine or its components.

Untreated thyrotoxicosis or adrenal insufficiency.
Side Effects

Common: Palpitations, nervousness, weight loss, and insomnia.

Rare: Hyperthyroid-like symptoms in case of overdose, such as rapid heartbeat or tremors.
Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy: Maintaining adequate thyroid hormone levels is critical during pregnancy. Levothyroxine is safe and essential.

Lactation: Safe for breastfeeding mothers as minimal amounts are excreted into breast milk.
