Indications:
MIREZ 7.5 MG is indicated for the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma, and for relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in pediatric patients.
Pharmacology:
Montelukast is a selective leukotriene receptor antagonist. It blocks substances that cause airway inflammation, bronchoconstriction, and allergy symptoms.
Dosage & Administration:
Usually administered once daily in the evening. Pediatric dose may vary; should be determined by a healthcare professional.
Interaction:
May interact with drugs like phenobarbital and rifampin, which reduce Montelukast levels.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Montelukast or any component of the formulation.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include headache, abdominal pain, cough, and behavioral changes like irritability or agitation.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not usually applicable for pediatric use. For use in pregnant or breastfeeding women, consult a doctor.
Precautions & Warnings:
Not for acute asthma attacks. Monitor pediatric patients for behavioral or mood changes. Use cautiously in hepatic impairment.
