Indications:
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Panic Disorder
Social Anxiety Disorder
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Pharmacology:
ANDEP contains Escitalopram Oxalate, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that increases serotonin concentration in the brain, helping to improve mood and reduce anxiety symptoms.
Dosage:
Typical dose range: 10-20 mg once daily; 25 mg may be prescribed in specific cases
Dosage individualized based on clinical response and tolerance
Gradual dose titration recommended under physician supervision
Administration:
Taken orally with or without food
Should be taken at the same time each day
Swallow tablet whole, avoid crushing or chewing
Interaction:
Avoid combination with MAO inhibitors or other serotonergic drugs due to serotonin syndrome risk
Use cautiously with anticoagulants and NSAIDs
Inform doctor of all concomitant medications
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Escitalopram or related compounds
Concurrent MAO inhibitor therapy
History of serotonin syndrome
Side Effects:
Common: Nausea, headache, insomnia, dry mouth, dizziness
Less common: Sexual dysfunction, increased sweating, fatigue
Rare but serious: Suicidal ideation, serotonin syndrome, seizures
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if benefit outweighs risk; consult physician
Excreted in breast milk; breastfeeding with caution
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor patients for mood changes or suicidal thoughts
Not approved for pediatric use without specialist advice
Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent withdrawal symptoms
Caution in liver or kidney impairment
