Indications:
MIREZ 30 MG is indicated for the prevention and chronic treatment of asthma, and for the relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis.
Pharmacology:
Montelukast selectively blocks leukotriene D4 at the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor in the lungs and bronchial tubes, reducing inflammation, bronchoconstriction, and mucus secretion.
Dosage & Administration:
Recommended dose is once daily, preferably in the evening. The exact dosage and duration should be determined by a physician based on patient condition and response.
Interaction:
Concomitant use with phenobarbital, rifampin, and other enzyme inducers may lower plasma levels of Montelukast.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Montelukast or any component of the formulation.
Side Effects:
May cause headache, gastrointestinal upset, dizziness, rash, and rarely mood-related changes such as agitation or depression.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk. Caution advised during lactation.
Precautions & Warnings:
Not indicated for acute asthma attacks. Use with caution in patients with neuropsychiatric disorders or liver dysfunction.
