Indications:
FLOWRAP 4 MG is indicated for:
Symptomatic treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
Relief of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with BPH, such as weak stream, urgency, incomplete emptying
May be used in combination with other BPH therapies
Pharmacology:
FLOWRAP contains Alfuzosin Hydrochloride, an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. It selectively blocks alpha-1 receptors in the smooth muscle of the prostate and bladder neck, leading to muscle relaxation and improved urine flow without significantly affecting blood pressure.
Dosage & Administration:
Adult dose: 1 tablet (4 mg) once daily after the same meal each day
Should be swallowed whole — do not crush or chew
Maximum dose: 10 mg per day (divided dose in some cases)
Interaction:
Use with caution with other alpha-blockers or antihypertensives — risk of hypotension
CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, erythromycin) may increase alfuzosin levels
Should not be used with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to alfuzosin or other quinazoline derivatives
Severe hepatic impairment
History of postural hypotension
Concomitant use with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors
Side Effects:
Common: Dizziness, headache, fatigue, hypotension
Less common: Nausea, abdominal pain, palpitations
Rare: Syncope, angioedema, priapism
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not indicated for use in women
Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings:
May cause orthostatic hypotension — rise slowly from sitting/lying positions
Use with caution in patients with existing heart conditions
Inform the surgeon if undergoing cataract surgery (Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome risk)
Monitor blood pressure regularly
