Indications:
IBIDA 550 mg is indicated for the treatment of:
Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis
Ankylosing spondylitis
Acute musculoskeletal disorders
Dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain)
Tendinitis, bursitis
Postoperative and dental pain
Gout and other inflammatory conditions
Pharmacology:
Naproxen sodium is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that exerts its effect by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis through COX-1 and COX-2 enzyme inhibition.
Onset: 1 hour
Peak plasma levels: 2–4 hours
Duration: Up to 12 hours
It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic effects.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: 550 mg initially, followed by 275 mg every 6–8 hours if needed
Maximum: Up to 1375 mg/day in divided doses
Take with food or milk to minimize gastric irritation
Swallow whole; do not chew or crush
Interaction:
May increase risk of GI bleeding with corticosteroids or alcohol
May reduce effectiveness of antihypertensives and diuretics
Increased risk of toxicity when combined with lithium or methotrexate
Avoid combining with other NSAIDs or anticoagulants
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Naproxen or other NSAIDs
History of GI bleeding or peptic ulcer
Severe heart, liver, or kidney disease
Pregnancy (especially third trimester)
Side Effects:
Common: Nausea, heartburn, abdominal pain, dizziness
Less common: Edema, rash, headache
Rare: GI bleeding, renal impairment, allergic reactions, liver enzyme elevation
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Not recommended in the last trimester; use with caution in early pregnancy only if necessary
Lactation: Small amounts may pass into breast milk; caution advised
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure and kidney function during prolonged use
Use with caution in patients with a history of ulcer, asthma, or cardiovascular disease
Avoid alcohol and other NSAIDs during therapy
Discontinue immediately if signs of allergic reaction or bleeding occur
Do not use for extended periods without medical advice
