Indications:
FLOWRAP 8 MG is indicated for:

Treatment of functional symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
Relief from urinary difficulties such as weak stream, incomplete emptying, urgency, and nocturia
Improvement of quality of life in men with enlarged prostate

Pharmacology:
FLOWRAP contains Alfuzosin Hydrochloride, a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor blocker. It acts by relaxing the smooth muscles of the prostate and bladder neck, which leads to decreased urinary resistance and improved urine flow in BPH patients. It has a uroselective profile with minimal effect on blood pressure when taken correctly.

Dosage & Administration:

Recommended dose: 1 tablet (8 mg) once daily, preferably after the same meal
The tablet should be swallowed whole — do not crush, split, or chew
Should be used with caution in elderly patients due to risk of orthostatic hypotension

Interaction:

Caution with antihypertensive drugs, nitrates, and PDE5 inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil) — additive hypotensive effects
Avoid strong CYP3A4 inhibitors like ketoconazole, ritonavir, clarithromycin
Should not be combined with other alpha-1 blockers

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to alfuzosin or related compounds
Severe liver disease
Patients with a history of postural hypotension
Concomitant use with potent CYP3A4 inhibitors

Side Effects:

Common: Dizziness, tiredness, headache, nasal congestion
Less common: Palpitations, hypotension, nausea
Rare: Fainting (syncope), allergic reactions, prolonged erection (priapism)

Pregnancy & Lactation:

Not indicated for use in women
Avoid in pregnancy and lactation

Precautions & Warnings:

Patients should be advised to rise slowly from sitting or lying positions
Inform the ophthalmologist before cataract surgery due to risk of Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome (IFIS)
Monitor blood pressure, especially in the initial days
Not intended for pediatric use
