Indications:
IBIDA 200 mg is indicated for the relief of:
Mild to moderate pain (headache, dental pain, muscle pain)
Fever
Dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain)
Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
Inflammatory conditions like bursitis, tendinitis
Postoperative pain or injury-related swelling
Pharmacology:
Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, which reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain, inflammation, and fever.
Onset of action: 30–60 minutes
Peak effect: 1–2 hours
Duration: 4–6 hours
It also has mild antiplatelet effects.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: 200–400 mg every 4–6 hours as needed
Maximum: Not more than 1200 mg/day without medical supervision
Take with food or milk to minimize gastric irritation
Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew
Interaction:
Increased risk of GI bleeding with corticosteroids or alcohol
May reduce effect of antihypertensives (ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers)
Avoid use with other NSAIDs or aspirin
May increase serum levels of lithium or methotrexate
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or other NSAIDs
History of GI ulcer or bleeding
Severe hepatic or renal impairment
Active peptic ulcer disease
During third trimester of pregnancy
Side Effects:
Common: Nausea, dyspepsia, heartburn, dizziness
Less common: GI bleeding, rash, fluid retention
Rare: Anaphylaxis, kidney dysfunction, elevated liver enzymes
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Avoid in the third trimester; may cause fetal harm
Lactation: Ibuprofen is excreted in breast milk in small amounts; generally considered safe during breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings:
Use lowest effective dose for shortest duration
Caution in elderly patients and those with a history of ulcer or cardiovascular disease
Regular monitoring required for long-term use
Avoid alcohol to reduce GI risk
Discontinue if signs of allergic reaction or GI bleeding occur
