Indications:
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Chronic stable angina (chest pain)
Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF)
Atrial fibrillation or other rhythm disorders (off-label)
Pharmacology:
BETAFIX contains Bisoprolol Fumarate, a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker. It decreases heart rate, cardiac output, and blood pressure by inhibiting sympathetic nervous system stimulation, thereby reducing the workload on the heart.
Dosage:
Recommended starting dose: 5 mg once daily
May be increased gradually up to 10–20 mg/day depending on condition and response
Dose adjustments are required in renal or hepatic impairment
Administration:
Administer orally once daily, preferably in the morning
Can be taken with or without food
Swallow whole with water, do not crush or chew
Interaction:
Caution with calcium channel blockers (verapamil, diltiazem), antiarrhythmics, insulin, oral hypoglycemics, and NSAIDs
Inform doctor about all current medications before use
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Bisoprolol
Severe bradycardia
Cardiogenic shock
Decompensated heart failure
Severe asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
Side Effects:
Common: Fatigue, dizziness, bradycardia (slow heart rate), hypotension
Less common: Sleep disturbances, depression, cold extremities
Rare: Bronchospasm, heart block, allergic reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy (Category C)
Monitor fetal growth if used during pregnancy
Caution advised during lactation
Precautions & Warnings:
Taper off gradually; do not stop suddenly
Use caution in diabetics, thyroid disorders, and peripheral vascular disease
Regular monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate required
