Pharmacology:
Progesterone is a natural steroid hormone essential for regulating the menstrual cycle and maintaining pregnancy. It prepares the endometrium for implantation and supports gestation by modulating immune response and uterine environment.
Dosage & Administration:
Typical adult dose: 10 mg orally once or twice daily, as prescribed
Should be taken with food to improve absorption
Follow doctor’s instructions carefully for duration and dose adjustments
Interaction:
May reduce efficacy of hormonal contraceptives
Interacts with enzyme-inducing drugs like rifampicin and anticonvulsants
