Indications:
Long-term treatment and prevention of asthma in children
Relief of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
Prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm
Pharmacology:
AERON FT 5 MG Tablet contains Montelukast Sodium, a leukotriene receptor antagonist (LTRA) that selectively binds to cysteinyl leukotriene receptors in the lungs and bronchial tubes. This action inhibits the effects of leukotrienes which cause asthma symptoms like bronchoconstriction, inflammation, and mucus secretion.
Dosage:
Children aged 6 to 14 years: 5 mg once daily, preferably in the evening
Take regularly for effective symptom control
Not for use during acute asthma attacks
Administration:
Orally administered
Can be taken with or without food
Should be taken at the same time each day
Tablet should be swallowed whole or chewed as advised
Interaction:
May be used with other asthma medications, including inhaled corticosteroids
Enzyme inducers like phenobarbital or rifampin may decrease effectiveness
No major interactions reported in clinical trials
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Montelukast or any ingredient in the formulation
Side Effects:
Common: Headache, abdominal pain
Less common: Diarrhea, rash, fever
Rare: Mood changes, sleep disturbances, agitation, suicidal thoughts (very rare)
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not intended for adult use; pediatric formulation only
Use only under pediatrician supervision
Precautions & Warnings:
Not a rescue medicine for sudden asthma attacks
Parents should monitor behavioral changes
Regular use required to maintain control of asthma and allergy symptoms
Inform doctor if symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear
