Indications:
NEXOVAS 5 MG is indicated for:
Management of mild to moderate essential hypertension
Cardiovascular protection in hypertensive patients
Prevention of target organ damage due to high blood pressure
Pharmacology:
Cilnidipine is a fourth-generation dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that blocks both L-type and N-type calcium channels. It lowers blood pressure by relaxing vascular smooth muscle and reducing peripheral resistance. Its N-type blocking action also reduces sympathetic nerve activity.
Dosage & Administration:
Initial dose: 5 mg once daily
May be adjusted up to 10–20 mg depending on patient response
Should be taken at the same time each day, with or without food
Interaction:
Additive hypotensive effects with other antihypertensive agents
Use cautiously with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., erythromycin, ketoconazole)
Avoid taking with grapefruit juice
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Cilnidipine
Severe aortic stenosis
Cardiogenic shock
Acute myocardial infarction
Side Effects:
Common: Headache, flushing, dizziness, leg swelling
Less common: Palpitations, fatigue, nausea
Rare: Allergic reactions, hypotension, bradycardia
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended during pregnancy unless clearly needed. Caution advised during breastfeeding due to limited safety data.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure and heart rate regularly
Use with caution in patients with liver impairment
May cause dizziness—avoid driving until effects are known
Do not discontinue abruptly
