Indications:
ROVAST 10 MG Tablet is indicated for:
-
Reducing elevated LDL cholesterol and triglycerides.

Increasing HDL cholesterol.
-
Primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases in patients with high cholesterol and associated risk factors.
Pharmacology:
Rosuvastatin is a selective and competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis in the liver. By lowering LDL cholesterol and increasing HDL cholesterol, it helps reduce the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular events.
Dosage and Administration:

Initial Dose: 5-10 mg once daily, adjusted based on individual response and therapeutic goals.

Maintenance Dose: 10-20 mg once daily.

Maximum Dose: 40 mg/day in severe cases under medical supervision.

Can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
Interaction:

May interact with anticoagulants like warfarin, increasing the risk of bleeding.

Concomitant use with cyclosporine, gemfibrozil, or protease inhibitors may increase the risk of myopathy.

Avoid excessive alcohol and grapefruit juice.
Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin or any component of the formulation.

Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of liver enzymes.

Pregnancy and lactation.
Side Effects:

Common: Muscle pain, abdominal discomfort, nausea, and headache.

Serious but rare: Myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, and liver enzyme abnormalities.
Pregnancy & Lactation:

Contraindicated during pregnancy due to potential fetal harm.

Should not be used by breastfeeding mothers.
