Indications:
LATUDA 20MG is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and adolescents (13 to 17 years) and for bipolar depression (bipolar I disorder) either as monotherapy or adjunct to lithium or valproate.
Pharmacology:
Latuda contains Lurasidone HCl, an atypical antipsychotic. It acts as an antagonist at dopamine D₂ and serotonin 5-HT₂A receptors, helping to normalize mood and perception in psychotic conditions.

Starting dose is typically 20–40 mg once daily with food. Dosage may be increased up to 120 mg/day depending on response and tolerability.
Interaction:
Avoid co-administration with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole) or inducers (e.g., rifampin). Dose adjustments may be required with moderate CYP3A4 modulators.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Lurasidone or any of its components, and those on strong CYP3A4 inhibitors/inducers.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include drowsiness, nausea, akathisia, and agitation. Rarely, may cause extrapyramidal symptoms, weight gain, or elevated blood sugar.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if benefits outweigh potential risks. Neonates exposed during the third trimester may exhibit withdrawal symptoms. Not recommended during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for suicidal thoughts, particularly during initial treatment or dose changes. Caution in elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis due to risk of death.
Therapeutic Class:
Atypical Antipsychotics
