Indications:
NEXOVAS 10 MG is indicated for:
Essential hypertension (high blood pressure)
Cardiovascular protection in patients at risk
Adjunct in preventing heart-related complications
Pharmacology:
Cilnidipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that blocks both L-type and N-type calcium channels. It helps relax blood vessels, reduce peripheral resistance, and lower blood pressure. It also reduces sympathetic nerve activity, which provides additional cardiovascular protection.
Dosage & Administration:
Usual adult dose: 5–10 mg once daily, may be increased to 20 mg depending on response.
Take orally with or without food at a fixed time daily.
Interaction:
Enhanced hypotensive effect with other antihypertensive drugs.
Use cautiously with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole) and inducers (e.g., rifampicin).
Avoid grapefruit juice.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Cilnidipine or other calcium channel blockers
Severe aortic stenosis
Cardiogenic shock
Side Effects:
Common: Headache, dizziness, flushing, ankle swelling
Less common: Bradycardia, fatigue, gastrointestinal upset
Rare: Hypotension, palpitations, allergic reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician. Safety during lactation is not established; caution is advised.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure regularly
Caution in patients with liver dysfunction or heart failure
Avoid sudden discontinuation
May cause dizziness; avoid driving or operating machinery until effects are known
