VORIFAST 50 MG TABLET is indicated for the treatment of invasive fungal infections, including invasive aspergillosis, systemic candidiasis, and infections caused by rare fungal species.
Pharmacology:
Voriconazole, a triazole antifungal, inhibits fungal cytochrome P450 enzymes, which decreases ergosterol production. This action compromises fungal cell membrane integrity, effectively inhibiting fungal growth.
Dosage & Administration:

Adults:

Loading Dose (first 24 hours): 400 mg twice daily.

Maintenance Dose: 50-200 mg twice daily, adjusted based on response and clinical needs.

Children (2-12 years): Weight-based dosing determined by a physician.

Administer at least one hour before or after meals.
Interaction:

Avoid using with drugs such as rifampin, carbamazepine, or long-acting barbiturates, as they can reduce Voriconazole efficacy.

May interact with medications like warfarin, phenytoin, and sulfonylureas, requiring monitoring and possible dose adjustments.
Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Voriconazole or any of its components.

Concurrent use of contraindicated medications with known severe interactions.
Side Effects:

Common: Visual disturbances, headache, rash, and mild nausea.

Serious: Liver dysfunction, QT prolongation, or hypersensitivity reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
