Indications:
LAXANTE 10 MG is indicated for the short-term relief of occasional constipation and irregular bowel movements.
Pharmacology:
Laxante contains Bisacodyl, a stimulant laxative. It works by stimulating the enteric nerves in the colon to promote peristalsis and enhance bowel movements.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults and children over 10 years: 1 tablet (10 mg) once daily at bedtime. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water and should not be chewed or crushed.
Interaction:
May interact with antacids, milk, or proton pump inhibitors, which can dissolve the enteric coating prematurely, causing gastric irritation or cramps.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with intestinal obstruction, appendicitis, severe abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting, or known hypersensitivity to Bisacodyl.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include abdominal cramping, diarrhea, and nausea. Prolonged use may lead to dehydration or electrolyte imbalance.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed. Caution is advised during lactation as effects on nursing infants are not well studied.
Precautions & Warnings:
Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days without medical advice. Excessive use may lead to dependency and loss of normal bowel function.
Therapeutic Class:
Stimulant Laxatives
