TGDROP 100 MG TABLET is indicated for the treatment of protozoal infections such as giardiasis and cryptosporidiosis and other parasitic diseases in children and adults.
Pharmacology:
Nitazoxanide is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic agent. It inhibits the pyruvate-ferredoxin oxidoreductase enzyme, disrupting anaerobic metabolism essential for protozoa and certain parasites.
Dosage & Administration:

Adults and children over 12 years: 500 mg twice daily for 3 days.

Children (1-12 years): 100 mg to 200 mg twice daily, based on body weight, for 3 days.

To be taken with food to enhance absorption.
Interaction:

Concomitant use with warfarin may increase bleeding risk.

Minimal interaction with other common medications, but caution is advised with highly protein-bound drugs.
Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Nitazoxanide or any component of the tablet.

Severe hepatic dysfunction or biliary obstruction.
Side Effects:

Common: Abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and headache.

Rare: Allergic reactions, such as rash or urticaria.
Pregnancy & Lactation:

Use during pregnancy only if clearly indicated, as sufficient safety data is not available.

Caution is advised while breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:

Regular monitoring is recommended for patients with liver or kidney impairment.
