Indications:
Allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial)
Chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives)
Symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, itching, watery eyes
Skin allergies causing itching and rashes
Pharmacology:
ALCET Syrup contains Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride, a selective third-generation antihistamine that blocks H1 histamine receptors, reducing the effects of histamine in allergic reactions. It is less sedating and provides long-lasting relief from allergy symptoms.
Dosage:
Children 6 to 12 years: 5 ml once daily
Children 2 to 5 years: 2.5 ml once daily (as per physician’s advice)
Dosage may vary according to patient condition and age
Administer once daily, preferably in the evening
Administration:
Oral administration using the measuring cup or spoon
Can be taken with or without food
Shake well before use
Complete the prescribed course for best results
Interaction:
May enhance drowsiness with alcohol or CNS depressants
Possible interaction with theophylline, ritonavir
Inform the doctor of all medications currently taken
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Levocetirizine or piperazine derivatives
Severe renal impairment without dose adjustment
Not recommended for children under 2 years without medical advice
Side Effects:
Common: Drowsiness, dry mouth, fatigue
Less common: Headache, stomach pain
Rare: Agitation, hallucinations, seizures
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy Category B – use only if clearly needed
Excreted in breast milk; consult doctor before use during breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings:
Use caution in epileptic or kidney disease patients
Avoid alcohol consumption during treatment
May impair alertness; caution while driving or operating machinery
Follow doctor's instructions carefully
