ZOLI 0.05% NASAL DROPS is indicated for:
Temporary relief of nasal congestion caused by colds, hay fever, allergies, or sinusitis.
Nasal congestion associated with upper respiratory tract infections.
Pharmacology:
Oxymetazoline is a sympathomimetic agent that acts on alpha-adrenergic receptors in the nasal mucosa. It causes vasoconstriction, reducing nasal swelling and congestion, and allowing clearer nasal airflow.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults and Children (over 6 years): Instill 2-3 drops into each nostril every 12 hours as needed.
Children (2-6 years): Use under medical supervision.
Do not use for more than 3 consecutive days to avoid rebound congestion.
Interaction:
Avoid concurrent use with MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants as it may increase blood pressure.
Caution with other decongestants to avoid additive effects.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Oxymetazoline or any ingredient in the formulation.
Narrow-angle glaucoma, severe cardiovascular diseases, or uncontrolled hypertension.
Side Effects:
Common: Mild stinging, dryness, or irritation in the nasal cavity.
Rare: Rebound nasal congestion, palpitations, or headache.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed, under medical supervision.
Caution is advised during lactation; consult a physician before use.
Precautions & Warnings:
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Use with caution in patients with diabetes, hyperthyroidism, or enlarged prostate.
Prolonged use may lead to rebound nasal congestion (rhinitis medicamentosa).
Keep away from children to prevent accidental ingestion.
