ZOVENTA 400 MG Capsule is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections such as:
Community-acquired pneumonia.
Urinary tract infections (UTIs).
Skin and soft tissue infections.
Acute otitis media.
Pharyngitis and tonsillitis.
Sinusitis.
Gonorrhea and other susceptible bacterial infections.
Pharmacology:
Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death. It is effective against a broad range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including resistant strains.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: 400 mg every 12 hours for 7-14 days, depending on the infection type and severity.
Children: Dose to be determined by body weight and clinical condition under medical supervision.
Should be taken with food for optimal absorption.
Interaction:
Avoid simultaneous administration with antacids or H2 blockers as they may reduce absorption.
Use cautiously with nephrotoxic drugs like aminoglycosides to prevent kidney toxicity.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Cefpodoxime or other cephalosporins.
History of severe allergic reactions to penicillin or beta-lactam antibiotics.
Side Effects:
Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal discomfort.
Rare: Rash, pruritus, or anaphylaxis.
Prolonged use may lead to fungal infections.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Considered safe during pregnancy if clearly needed; consult a healthcare provider.
Caution is advised during breastfeeding as small amounts of Cefpodoxime may be excreted in breast milk.

Renal function monitoring is essential for patients with kidney impairment.
Long-term or repeated use may result in superinfections.
