Indications:
CANDINIL 150MG is indicated for:

Treatment of vaginal candidiasis.

Oral and esophageal candidiasis.

Systemic fungal infections, including cryptococcal meningitis.

Prophylaxis in patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy, reducing the risk of fungal infections.
Pharmacology:
CANDINIL contains Fluconazole, a triazole antifungal agent. It works by inhibiting fungal cytochrome P450 enzymes, interfering with the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes. This results in cell membrane damage and subsequent fungal cell death.

Vaginal candidiasis: 150 mg as a single dose.

Other infections: 50-400 mg once daily, based on severity and type of infection.

Can be taken with or without food.

Swallow the capsule whole with water.

Interaction:

May increase the plasma levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9 and CYP3A4, such as warfarin, phenytoin, and cyclosporine.

Avoid concurrent use with drugs like terfenadine or astemizole due to potential cardiac risks.
Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or any component of the capsule.

Concurrent use with medications that prolong the QT interval.
Side Effects:

Common: Headache, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea.

Rare: Hepatotoxicity, severe skin reactions (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome), or QT prolongation.
Pregnancy & Lactation:

Pregnancy: Not recommended, particularly during the first trimester, due to potential teratogenic effects.

Lactation: Use with caution as Fluconazole is excreted in breast milk.
