Indications:
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Congestive heart failure
Angina pectoris (chest pain)
Arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats)
Pharmacology:
BETAFIX contains Bisoprolol fumarate, a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker. It works by reducing the heart rate and the heart's workload, thereby lowering blood pressure and preventing cardiac complications.
Dosage:
Usual adult dose: 2.5 mg to 10 mg once daily
Dose may vary depending on condition and patient response
Dose adjustment may be needed for renal or hepatic impairment
Administration:
Take orally, preferably in the morning
Swallow whole with water, with or without food
Do not crush or chew the tablet
Interaction:
May interact with calcium channel blockers, other antihypertensives, insulin or oral antidiabetics, and NSAIDs
Inform your doctor about all medications being taken
Contraindications:
Severe bradycardia
Acute heart failure
Cardiogenic shock
Hypersensitivity to Bisoprolol or other beta-blockers
Side Effects:
Common: Fatigue, dizziness, slow heart rate, cold extremities
Less common: Sleep disturbances, shortness of breath, depression
Rare: Allergic reactions, worsening of heart failure
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Should be used only if clearly needed and prescribed
May reduce placental perfusion and fetal growth
Caution advised during breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure and heart rate regularly
Do not discontinue suddenly—may worsen heart conditions
Use caution in patients with diabetes or thyroid disorders
