Indications:
ROZITH 50 ML Suspension is indicated for:
Upper and lower respiratory tract infections, such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and bronchitis.
Skin and soft tissue infections.
Otitis media (middle ear infections).
Gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
Pharmacology:
Azithromycin, the active ingredient in ROZITH Suspension, is a macrolide antibiotic that binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis. This action halts bacterial growth and replication, making it effective against a wide spectrum of bacteria.
Dosage and Administration:
Children (based on body weight):
Day 1: 10 mg/kg body weight.
Days 2 to 5: 5 mg/kg body weight once daily.
Shake well before use.
Administer with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
Interaction:
Avoid simultaneous use with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, as they may reduce azithromycin absorption.
Can enhance the effects of anticoagulants like warfarin.
Should not be used with ergot derivatives due to the risk of ergot toxicity.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin, or any macrolide antibiotic.
Severe liver dysfunction.
Side Effects:
Common: Diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and vomiting.
Rare but serious: Allergic reactions, QT interval prolongation, and liver dysfunction.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Use only if prescribed by a doctor.
Lactation: Use with caution as azithromycin may pass into breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings:
Regular monitoring is advised for patients with hepatic impairment.
Discontinue immediately if allergic reactions or severe diarrhea occur.
