Indications:
NIRVANA 10 MG is indicated for:

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

Social Anxiety Disorder (off-label)
-
Panic Disorder (off-label)
Pharmacology:
Escitalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It increases the amount of serotonin in the brain by preventing its reabsorption, helping improve mood and reduce anxiety.
Dosage & Administration:

Usual adult dose: 10 mg once daily
-
May be increased up to 20 mg per day based on clinical response
-
Should be taken at the same time daily, with or without food
Interaction:
-
Risk of serotonin syndrome with other serotonergic drugs (e.g., MAOIs, triptans)
-
Caution with NSAIDs or anticoagulants due to bleeding risk
-
May interact with alcohol, causing enhanced CNS depression
Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Escitalopram or any SSRI
-
Concomitant use with MAO inhibitors
-
QT prolongation (in patients with cardiac risk)
Side Effects:

Common: Nausea, headache, insomnia, dry mouth, fatigue

Serious: Suicidal thoughts (especially in young adults), serotonin syndrome, QT prolongation, hyponatremia
Pregnancy & Lactation:

Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy; may pose risks (e.g., neonatal withdrawal)

Excreted in breast milk; use with caution or avoid during breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings:

Monitor for suicidal ideation during early therapy

Gradual dose reduction recommended to avoid withdrawal symptoms

Avoid alcohol while on treatment

Caution in patients with liver disease or seizure disorders
