Indications:
HUMALOG MIX 75/25 KwikPen is indicated for:

Patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus

Those needing both mealtime and basal insulin coverage

Use before meals for improved glycemic control throughout the day
Pharmacology:
HUMALOG MIX 75/25 is a biphasic insulin analog containing:
-
75% Insulin Lispro Protamine Suspension (intermediate-acting)
-
25% Insulin Lispro (rapid-acting)
It offers:
-
Onset: ~15 minutes
-
Peak: 1–6 hours
-
Duration: up to 12–16 hours
This mix mimics normal insulin patterns after meals and between meals.
Dosage & Administration:

Inject subcutaneously within 15 minutes before a meal
-
Dosage is individualized based on patient's glucose profile
-
Use the prefilled KwikPen; each pen delivers up to 60 units per dose
-
Rotate injection sites regularly (abdomen, thigh, upper arm)
-
Do not administer intravenously or use in insulin pumps
Interaction:
-
Enhanced hypoglycemic effect with: alcohol, MAOIs, ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers
-
Reduced effect with: corticosteroids, diuretics, oral contraceptives

Careful blood glucose monitoring required when using interacting drugs
Contraindications:

Known hypersensitivity to Insulin Lispro or any pen components

Hypoglycemia present at time of injection
Side Effects:

Common: Hypoglycemia, injection site pain or swelling, lipodystrophy

Rare: Allergic reactions, insulin resistance, rash, weight gain
Pregnancy & Lactation:

Safe in pregnancy under proper glycemic monitoring

May be used during breastfeeding; monitor blood glucose levels

Inspect visually before use: should appear uniformly cloudy
