DELPARK 5MG Tablet is indicated for:
Treatment of Parkinson’s disease, alone or in combination with levodopa.
Management of moderate to severe Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS).
Pramipexole acts as a dopamine agonist, directly stimulating dopamine receptors in the brain. This helps normalize motor activity in Parkinson’s disease and reduces sensory and motor disturbances in RLS by mimicking the natural dopamine activity.
Parkinson’s Disease:
Initial dose: 0.125 mg three times daily.
Increase gradually at weekly intervals to achieve therapeutic response.
Maximum dose: 4.5 mg/day, divided into three doses.
Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS):
Start with 0.125 mg once daily, 2-3 hours before bedtime.
Adjust based on response, up to 0.5 mg/day.
Administration: Swallow tablets whole, with or without food, as prescribed by the physician.
Drug Interactions:
Increased sedation with CNS depressants or alcohol.
Reduced efficacy when used with dopamine antagonists like antipsychotics.
Food Interactions: Food may reduce gastrointestinal discomfort but does not affect absorption significantly.
Known hypersensitivity to Pramipexole or any of its ingredients.
Common side effects:
Nausea, dizziness, and somnolence.
Fatigue and dry mouth.
Rare or severe side effects:
Hallucinations, compulsive behaviors (e.g., gambling, eating).
Orthostatic hypotension and peripheral edema.
Pregnancy: Classified as Category C; use only if the benefits justify the potential risks to the fetus.
Lactation: Not recommended due to potential inhibition of prolactin secretion.
Monitor for sudden onset of sleep episodes during routine activities.
Use cautiously in patients with psychiatric or impulse control disorders.
Gradual withdrawal is necessary to prevent rebound symptoms.
Dopamine agonist for Parkinson’s disease and RLS.
