Indications:
LAXUR 20 MG + 50 MG is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, especially when monotherapy with either Olmesartan or Hydrochlorothiazide is insufficient to control blood pressure.
Pharmacology:
Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin-II. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that lowers blood pressure by reducing fluid volume via increased urine output. Together, they offer additive antihypertensive effects.
Dosage & Administration:
The usual dose is 1 tablet once daily, preferably at the same time each day. The dose may be adjusted based on blood pressure response and patient tolerance.
Interaction:
May interact with NSAIDs, lithium, potassium supplements, and other antihypertensives. Co-administration with alcohol or diuretics can enhance hypotensive effects.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with anuria, severe renal or hepatic impairment, hypersensitivity to sulfonamides or any components of the product, and during pregnancy.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include dizziness, fatigue, hypotension, headache, electrolyte imbalance, and increased urination. Rare but serious side effects may include kidney dysfunction or severe hypotension.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use is contraindicated during pregnancy (especially second and third trimester) due to risk of fetal harm. Not recommended during lactation unless clearly necessary.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes regularly. Use with caution in patients with volume depletion, renal impairment, or diabetes.
Therapeutic Class:
Combined antihypertensive preparations (ARB + Diuretic)
Storage Conditions:
Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
