Indications:
LOSACOR 50 MG is indicated for treatment of hypertension, reducing risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy, and protecting kidneys in diabetic nephropathy.
Pharmacology:
Contains Losartan potassium, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that dilates blood vessels, lowering blood pressure and improving blood flow.
Dosage & Administration:
Usually started at 50 mg once daily. Dose may be adjusted up to 100 mg/day based on patient response. Can be taken with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with diuretics, potassium supplements, NSAIDs, lithium, and other antihypertensive agents.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in pregnancy, bilateral renal artery stenosis, and known hypersensitivity to Losartan.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include dizziness, fatigue, nasal congestion, and cough. Rarely may cause hyperkalemia or renal impairment.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended during pregnancy. Use during lactation only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes regularly. Use caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
