Indications:
LAXUR PLUS 40 MG + 50 MG is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension, especially in patients who require higher doses for effective blood pressure control or those inadequately controlled with monotherapy.
Pharmacology:
Olmesartan Medoxomil acts as an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, dilating blood vessels and lowering blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, reduces blood volume by increasing urine output. Their combination provides synergistic antihypertensive effects.
Dosage & Administration:
Typically, one tablet once daily with or without food. Dose adjustments should be made based on clinical response and tolerability.
Interaction:
Avoid concomitant use with potassium supplements, NSAIDs, lithium, or other agents affecting renal function and electrolytes without medical supervision.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in pregnancy, anuria, severe renal/hepatic impairment, hypersensitivity to sulfonamides or components of the drug.
Side Effects:
May cause dizziness, headache, fatigue, hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, increased urination, and rarely renal dysfunction.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended during pregnancy and lactation. Should be used only if benefits outweigh risks and under physician guidance.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes regularly. Caution in patients with diabetes, gout, or volume depletion.
