Indications:
CLACIDO BID 35ML Syrup is indicated for:
Upper and lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., pharyngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia).
Skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
Otitis media (middle ear infections) in children.
Pharmacology:
CLACIDO BID contains Clarithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, preventing bacterial growth and replication.
Dosage and Administration:
Dosage:
Children: 7.5 mg/kg twice daily, not exceeding 500 mg per dose.
Duration: 5-10 days, depending on the severity of the infection.
Administration:
Shake the bottle well before use.
Measure the dose accurately with the provided measuring device.
Can be taken with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with drugs metabolized by CYP3A4, such as statins, antiarrhythmics, or anticoagulants.
Concomitant use with ergot derivatives is contraindicated due to ergot toxicity risks.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Clarithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics.
Patients with a history of QT prolongation or ventricular arrhythmias.
Severe hepatic or renal impairment.
Side Effects:
Common: Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, and altered taste.
Rare: Allergic reactions, hepatotoxicity, or cardiac arrhythmias.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not applicable for pediatric use. However, for adult use:
Pregnancy: Use only if the potential benefit justifies the risk.
Lactation: Use with caution as Clarithromycin is excreted in breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor liver and kidney function during extended therapy.
Use cautiously in children with cardiac conditions or electrolyte imbalances.
Discontinue use immediately if severe allergic or adverse reactions occur.
