Indications:
ROZITH 500 MG Tablet is indicated for:
Upper and lower respiratory tract infections such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia.
Skin and soft tissue infections.
ENT infections, including sinusitis and otitis media.
Urogenital infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
Pharmacology:
Azithromycin, the active ingredient in ROZITH 500 MG Tablet, is a macrolide antibiotic. It binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis and stopping bacterial growth. Its broad-spectrum activity makes it effective against a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Dosage and Administration:
Adults and Adolescents:
Standard Dose: 500 mg once daily for 3 days, or 500 mg on the first day followed by 250 mg once daily for the next 4 days.
Can be taken with or without food.
Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Interaction:
Absorption may be reduced if taken with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium.
Concurrent use with ergot derivatives may lead to ergot toxicity.
Can increase the effects of anticoagulants like warfarin.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin, or any macrolide antibiotics.
Severe hepatic impairment or previous history of jaundice due to azithromycin use.
Side Effects:
Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and headache.
Rare but serious: Allergic reactions, QT prolongation, hepatotoxicity, and superinfection.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Safe only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.
Lactation: Caution is advised as azithromycin can pass into breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with liver dysfunction or a history of cardiac arrhythmias.
Monitor for signs of severe diarrhea or hypersensitivity reactions.
