TOLUS 50 MG TABLET is indicated for the treatment of spasticity and muscle stiffness caused by neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and stroke. It is also effective in managing musculoskeletal conditions involving spasms.
Pharmacology:
Tolperisone is a centrally acting muscle relaxant that acts on the spinal cord by inhibiting the transmission of reflexes, leading to muscle relaxation. It also improves peripheral blood circulation without causing sedation.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: 50 mg to 150 mg, 2 to 3 times daily, depending on the severity of symptoms and patient response.
Children: Dose should be determined by a physician based on weight and condition.
Take after meals to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort.
Interaction:
May enhance the effects of other central nervous system depressants, such as benzodiazepines and alcohol.
Avoid concurrent use with other muscle relaxants without medical advice.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Tolperisone or other components of the tablet.
Severe myasthenia gravis or any condition associated with muscle weakness.
Side Effects:
Common: Dizziness, headache, and nausea.
Rare: Hypersensitivity reactions, such as rash or angioedema.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, unless absolutely necessary.
