Pharmacology:
BETAFIX AM combines two antihypertensive agents:
-
Bisoprolol: A selective beta-1 blocker that reduces heart rate, myocardial contractility, and blood pressure, decreasing cardiac workload.

Amlodipine: A calcium channel blocker that relaxes vascular smooth muscles, leading to vasodilation and decreased peripheral resistance.
Together, they effectively control blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events.
Dosage:

Typical adult dose: One tablet (2.5 mg Bisoprolol + 5 mg Amlodipine) once daily

Dose may be adjusted depending on blood pressure response

Use exactly as prescribed by the physician
Administration:

Oral use only

Take with or without food, preferably in the morning

Swallow whole with water, do not crush or chew
Interaction:

May interact with other antihypertensives, NSAIDs, diuretics, and drugs affecting CYP3A4

Avoid alcohol and grapefruit juice

Contraindications:

Known hypersensitivity to Bisoprolol, Amlodipine, or other beta-blockers or calcium channel blockers

Severe hypotension or bradycardia

Cardiogenic shock, acute myocardial infarction with pulmonary congestion

Severe aortic stenosis
Side Effects:

Common: Dizziness, fatigue, headache, ankle swelling

Less common: Bradycardia, hypotension, sleep disturbances

Rare: Allergic reactions, shortness of breath, AV block
Pregnancy & Lactation:

Should be avoided unless absolutely necessary during pregnancy

Use caution if administered during breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings:

Monitor blood pressure and heart rate regularly

Caution in patients with liver or kidney dysfunction

Avoid abrupt withdrawal to prevent rebound hypertension or chest pain
