Indications:
AERONID 200 is indicated for:
Maintenance treatment of asthma
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Prevention of asthma symptoms
Reducing airway inflammation
Pharmacology:
Budesonide is a potent glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory activity. It reduces inflammation in the airways, thereby decreasing symptoms such as wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath in asthma and COPD patients.
Dosage:
Adults & adolescents (12+ years): 200-800 mcg/day in divided doses
Children (6–11 years): 200-400 mcg/day
Dose to be adjusted by physician based on response
Maximum daily dose: Usually 1600 mcg in divided doses (in severe cases)
Administration:
Use via oral inhalation only
Rinse mouth with water after use to avoid oral thrush
Shake well before each puff
Follow physician or device instructions strictly
Interaction:
May interact with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole) leading to increased systemic exposure
Caution with other corticosteroids
May enhance the effect of beta-agonists
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Budesonide or any component of the inhaler
Acute asthma attacks (not for rescue use)
Side Effects:
Common: Oral thrush (candidiasis), hoarseness, throat irritation
Rare: Cough, dry mouth, allergic reactions, adrenal suppression with high dose or prolonged use
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy Category B
Use only if clearly needed and under medical supervision
Budesonide passes into breast milk but is generally considered safe
Precautions & Warnings:
Not for relief of acute bronchospasm
Patients should carry a rescue inhaler
Monitor growth in children on long-term therapy
Regular follow-up needed for dosage adjustment
