Indications:
GENSULIN N is indicated for the treatment of diabetes mellitus where insulin therapy is required to maintain blood glucose control, particularly in Type 1 and advanced Type 2 diabetes.
Pharmacology:
GENSULIN N contains NPH (Neutral Protamine Hagedorn) insulin, an intermediate-acting human insulin. After subcutaneous injection, it starts to work within 1–2 hours, peaks at 4–12 hours, and lasts up to 18–24 hours.
Dosage:
Dosage should be individualized based on blood glucose monitoring, dietary intake, physical activity, and physician’s assessment. Often administered once or twice daily.
Administration:
Subcutaneous injection only. Do not administer intravenously. Gently roll the vial between palms before use to mix the suspension. Use insulin syringes calibrated for 100 IU/ml. Rotate injection sites.
Interaction:
Interaction may occur with beta-blockers, corticosteroids, oral hypoglycemics, ACE inhibitors, diuretics, and alcohol. These can alter insulin’s glucose-lowering effects.
Contraindications:
Hypoglycemia
Known hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the formulation

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Considered safe under medical supervision. Insulin requirement may vary during pregnancy and after childbirth. Frequent glucose monitoring is recommended.
Precautions & Warnings:
Adjust dose during stress, infection, surgery, or dietary changes
Monitor blood glucose regularly
Avoid alcohol, as it may cause unpredictable blood sugar fluctuations
Do not share insulin vials or syringes with others

Storage Conditions:
Store unopened vials in the refrigerator at 2°C–8°C. Do not freeze. Once opened, it can be kept at room temperature (below 25°C) and should be used within 28 days. Keep away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not use if the suspension appears clumpy or discolored.
