Indications:
GENSULIN R is indicated for the treatment of insulin-requiring diabetes mellitus (Type 1 and advanced Type 2) to control postprandial blood glucose levels.

Pharmacology:
GENSULIN R contains soluble (regular) insulin, a short-acting human insulin. On subcutaneous administration, it begins to act within 30 minutes, peaks at 2–4 hours, and continues to work for 6–8 hours. It facilitates glucose uptake in muscles and fat and inhibits hepatic glucose production.

Dosage:
Individualized based on the patient's blood glucose levels, diet, physical activity, and physician’s advice. Typically administered 30 minutes before meals.

Administration:
Subcutaneous injection using an insulin pen compatible with 3ml cartridges. Not for intravenous use. Always rotate injection sites to avoid lipodystrophy. Use aseptic techniques and do not reuse needles.

Interaction:
Insulin action may be affected by:

Increased effect: oral antidiabetics, MAOIs, ACE inhibitors
Decreased effect: corticosteroids, thyroid hormones, diuretics
Alcohol: may increase or reduce insulin’s effect unpredictably

Contraindications:

Hypoglycemia
Allergy to insulin or any component of the formulation

Hypoglycemia (most frequent)
Local injection site reactions
Lipodystrophy
Weight gain
Rare systemic allergic reactions

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding with appropriate medical supervision. Dosage may need to be adjusted. Frequent monitoring is essential.

Do not skip meals after injection
Adjust dose in case of illness, stress, or change in diet or activity
Avoid alcohol
Monitor blood glucose regularly

Storage Conditions:
