AZITHROCIN 50ML Suspension is indicated for the treatment of:
Respiratory tract infections such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and bronchitis.
Otitis media (middle ear infection).
Skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible organisms.
Certain bacterial infections including sinusitis and pneumonia.
Pharmacology:
AZITHROCIN Suspension contains Azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic.
It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, stopping bacterial growth.
The extended half-life allows for shorter treatment courses.
Dosage & Administration:
Children (6 months and older): 10 mg/kg body weight on the first day, followed by 5 mg/kg body weight once daily for the next 4 days.
Shake well before use.
Administer 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.
Interaction:
Avoid concomitant use with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, as they may reduce Azithromycin absorption.
Use cautiously with other antibiotics or medications affecting the heart.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Azithromycin or other macrolides.
Severe hepatic impairment.
Side Effects:
Common: Diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting.
Rare: Rash, headache, dizziness, or allergic reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Limited data available; use only if clearly needed (Category B).
Lactation: Use under medical advice as it may pass into breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings:
Ensure complete dosage regimen to prevent antibiotic resistance.
Use cautiously in patients with hepatic impairment or arrhythmias.
