Indications:
Relief of pain and inflammation in musculoskeletal disorders
Soft tissue injuries, sprains, and strains
Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis pain relief
Post-traumatic swelling and inflammation
Pharmacology:
Diclofenac in Voligel inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), reducing prostaglandin synthesis responsible for pain and inflammation. When applied topically, it provides localized relief with minimal systemic absorption.
Dosage & Administration:
Apply a thin layer of gel 3-4 times daily on the affected area. Gently massage until absorbed. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
Interaction:
Topical use reduces systemic interactions, but caution is advised if used with oral NSAIDs or anticoagulants to avoid additive effects.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac or other NSAIDs
Open wounds, infections, or damaged skin at application site
History of asthma or allergic reactions related to NSAIDs
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include mild skin irritation, redness, itching, or rash at the application site. Rarely, allergic dermatitis may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy and lactation only if clearly needed and under medical supervision. Avoid application on large skin areas during late pregnancy.
Precautions & Warnings:
Do not apply on broken or infected skin
Avoid prolonged use to prevent skin sensitization
Wash hands after application
Discontinue if skin rash or irritation develops
