AZITHROCIN 500MG Tablet is indicated for:
Upper and lower respiratory tract infections, including bronchitis, sinusitis, and pneumonia.
ENT infections such as otitis media, tonsillitis, and pharyngitis.
Skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
Sexually transmitted infections, including chlamydia and gonorrhea.
Pharmacology:
AZITHROCIN contains Azithromycin, a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic.
It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, preventing bacterial replication.
Azithromycin’s extended half-life ensures effective bacterial eradication with short courses of therapy.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: 500 mg once daily for 3 days or as prescribed.
Special Instructions: Take 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals for optimal absorption.
Interaction:
Avoid using with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, as they can reduce Azithromycin absorption.
Use cautiously with other medications such as warfarin, digoxin, or ergot derivatives due to potential interactions.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Azithromycin, erythromycin, or any macrolide antibiotics.
Severe hepatic impairment.
Side Effects:
Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort.
Rare: Rash, angioedema, dizziness, or arrhythmia.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Can be used if clearly needed under medical supervision (Category B).
Lactation: Use with caution; minimal amounts may be excreted in breast milk.
