Pharmacology
MELPHIN contains a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis, thereby decreasing inflammation, pain, and fever.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 50 mg orally as prescribed, usually 1-2 times daily
Take with food or milk to reduce gastrointestinal irritation
Dosage adjusted based on response and tolerance
Interaction
May interact with anticoagulants, other NSAIDs, corticosteroids, and certain blood pressure medications
Avoid alcohol to reduce risk of stomach bleeding
Inform your doctor about all medicines you are taking
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to MELPHIN or NSAIDs
History of peptic ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding
Severe heart, liver, or kidney disease
Pregnancy in third trimester
Side Effects
Common: stomach upset, nausea, dizziness
Serious: gastrointestinal bleeding, allergic reactions, liver or kidney dysfunction (rare)
Pregnancy & Lactation
Avoid in late pregnancy due to risk to fetus
Use in breastfeeding only if clearly needed and prescribed
Precautions & Warnings
Use lowest effective dose for shortest duration
Monitor for signs of gastrointestinal bleeding or allergic reactions
Use cautiously in patients with cardiovascular disease or kidney problems
