Indications:
TYCLAV 1GM is indicated for the treatment of serious infections including lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, intra-abdominal infections, and septicemia caused by susceptible bacteria.
Pharmacology:
Contains amoxicillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, and clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor that prevents degradation of amoxicillin by resistant bacteria, thus broadening the antibiotic spectrum.
Dosage & Administration:
Usually administered by intravenous or intramuscular injection.
Dosage depends on infection severity and patient condition; commonly 1 gm every 8 to 12 hours as prescribed by the physician.
Interaction:
May interact with anticoagulants (warfarin), methotrexate, allopurinol, and oral contraceptives. Inform your healthcare provider about all medicines being taken.
Contraindications:
Not to be used in patients with hypersensitivity to penicillins, cephalosporins, or clavulanic acid.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include nausea, diarrhea, skin rash, allergic reactions, and in rare cases, liver enzyme abnormalities.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed. Safety in pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor liver and kidney function during prolonged therapy. Discontinue if serious allergic reactions occur.
