Indications
INDELIX SR 1.5 mg is used for treating essential hypertension and edema related to congestive heart failure.
Pharmacology
Indapamide is a thiazide-like diuretic that reduces sodium reabsorption in kidneys, increasing urine output and lowering blood pressure by dilating blood vessels.
Dosage & Administration
Usually taken once daily in the morning. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water, not crushed or chewed.
Interaction
May interact with lithium, NSAIDs, ACE inhibitors, corticosteroids, and potassium-altering drugs.
Contraindications
Not for use in patients with severe kidney or liver problems, known allergy to indapamide or sulfonamides, or low potassium levels.
Side Effects
Possible side effects include dizziness, fatigue, headache, gastrointestinal upset, electrolyte imbalance, and allergic reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Avoid use during pregnancy unless necessary. Not recommended during breastfeeding due to potential passage into breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings
Regular monitoring of electrolytes is recommended. Use with caution in patients with gout, diabetes, or on potassium-altering medications.
