Indications:
Omastin 200mg is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe allergic conditions including urticaria, allergic rhinitis, and other hypersensitivity reactions.
Pharmacology:
Contains cetirizine hydrochloride, a selective H1 histamine receptor antagonist that blocks histamine release and reduces allergic symptoms such as itching and swelling.
Dosage:
Typically, 10 mg to 20 mg once daily as advised by the physician, depending on severity. Do not exceed prescribed dose.
Administration:
Take with or without food, preferably at the same time each day for consistent effect.
Interaction:
May increase drowsiness when taken with alcohol or CNS depressants. Avoid concurrent use with other sedatives unless directed by a doctor.
Contraindications:
Not for patients allergic to cetirizine or other antihistamines. Use caution in renal impairment.
Side Effects:
Drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, fatigue, and rarely dizziness or gastrointestinal discomfort may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed during pregnancy. Consult a physician before use while breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
May impair alertness; avoid driving or operating machinery if drowsy. Adjust dose in kidney problems.
