AZITHROCIN SUSP 15ML Suspension is indicated for:
Respiratory tract infections such as pharyngitis, bronchitis, and tonsillitis.
Otitis media (middle ear infection).
Skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible organisms.
Certain bacterial infections, including sinusitis and community-acquired pneumonia.
Pharmacology:
AZITHROCIN SUSP contains Azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic.
It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit.
The long half-life allows once-daily dosing, providing convenience and efficacy.
Dosage & Administration:
Children (6 months and older): 10 mg/kg body weight on Day 1, followed by 5 mg/kg once daily for the next 4 days.
Shake the bottle well before use.
Administer 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.
Interaction:
Avoid taking with aluminum or magnesium-containing antacids, which can reduce absorption.
Be cautious with drugs affecting cardiac rhythm.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Azithromycin or other macrolides.
Severe hepatic impairment.
Side Effects:
Common: Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting.
Rare: Skin rash, headache, dizziness, or allergic reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Limited human data; use only if clearly necessary (Category B).
