Indications:
Used for the treatment of moderate to severe symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate.
Pharmacology:
Uroflo Plus combines Tamsulosin (an alpha-1A adrenergic blocker) and Dutasteride (a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor). Tamsulosin relaxes bladder and prostate muscles to improve urine flow, while Dutasteride reduces prostate size by lowering DHT levels.
Dosage & Administration:
One capsule once daily, taken approximately 30 minutes after the same meal every day. Swallow whole with water, without chewing or crushing.
Interaction:
Caution when co-administered with CYP3A4/5 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole), alpha-blockers, antihypertensives, and warfarin. Dutasteride may interact with medications affecting hormonal levels.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Tamsulosin, Dutasteride, or capsule components. Also contraindicated in women, children, and patients with severe liver disease.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include dizziness, reduced libido, ejaculation disorders, impotence, and breast tenderness. Rarely, allergic reactions or breast cancer may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not for use in women. Dutasteride is absorbed through the skin and can harm a male fetus. Pregnant women should avoid handling broken capsules.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid blood donation during and for at least 6 months after stopping treatment. Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment. May cause orthostatic hypotension.
Therapeutic Class:
Drugs for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), Combination of Alpha-Blockers and 5-Alpha Reductase Inhibitors
Storage Conditions:
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
