Indications:
GLIPITA M 50/500MG is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet and exercise alone are insufficient to control blood sugar.
Pharmacology:
GLIPITA M contains glipizide, which stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells, and metformin, which decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity.
Dosage:
Dose is individualized based on patient's response. Usually taken twice daily with meals to minimize gastrointestinal side effects.
Administration:
Orally, swallow tablets with water during or after meals.
Interaction:
May interact with other hypoglycemic drugs, corticosteroids, diuretics, beta-blockers, and alcohol, affecting blood sugar control.
Contraindications:
Type 1 diabetes
Diabetic ketoacidosis
Severe renal or hepatic impairment
Allergy to glipizide or metformin
Side Effects:
Hypoglycemia
Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)
Weight gain
Rare risk of lactic acidosis
Allergic reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if prescribed by doctor; limited safety data. Insulin preferred in pregnancy.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood glucose and kidney function regularly
Avoid alcohol
Adjust dose during illness or surgery
Stop before radiologic studies with iodine contrast
