CARNOVAS 5MG is indicated for:
Management of essential hypertension (high blood pressure).
Adjunct therapy in stable heart failure to improve cardiac function.
Pharmacology
Nebivolol is a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker with vasodilatory properties. It reduces heart rate and cardiac output while enhancing nitric oxide-mediated vasodilation, leading to decreased vascular resistance and better blood flow.
Dosage and Administration
Recommended dose: 5 mg once daily.
May be adjusted based on individual response and clinical condition.
Can be taken with or without food at a consistent time each day.
Interaction
Increased risk of bradycardia with digoxin or other beta-blockers.
Potentiates the hypotensive effects of antihypertensives, diuretics, or alcohol.
Use caution with CYP2D6 inhibitors (e.g., fluoxetine), which may increase Nebivolol levels.
Contraindications
Severe bradycardia or heart block.
Cardiogenic shock or severe decompensated heart failure.
Known hypersensitivity to Nebivolol or any excipient in the formulation.
Side Effects
Common: Dizziness, fatigue, headache, and nausea.
Rare: Hypotension, bradycardia, or allergic reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Use during pregnancy only if absolutely necessary and under medical supervision.
Avoid during breastfeeding unless specifically advised by a physician.
Precautions & Warnings
Gradual tapering is required to discontinue therapy to avoid rebound hypertension or angina.
Monitor closely in patients with diabetes, as it may mask symptoms of hypoglycemia.
Use with caution in patients with respiratory disorders, such as asthma or COPD.
Therapeutic Class
Beta-blocker, Antihypertensive agent.
Storage Conditions
Store below 30°C in a dry, cool place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
