Indications:
Perinase is indicated for the treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, and nasal polyps in adults and children above a certain age.
Pharmacology:
Perinase contains mometasone furoate, a corticosteroid that acts locally to reduce inflammation, swelling, and allergic reactions in the nasal passages. It prevents the release of inflammatory substances, thereby relieving nasal symptoms.
Dosage:
Adults and children over 12 years: 2 sprays in each nostril once daily (total 200 mcg). Maintenance may require dose adjustment.
Children 2–11 years: 1 spray in each nostril once daily, as advised by physician.
Administration:
For intranasal use only. Shake well before each use. Prime the spray if unused for several days. Blow nose before application.
Interaction:
Minimal systemic absorption, so interaction risk is low. However, consult a physician before concurrent use with other corticosteroids.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to mometasone furoate or any component of the spray. Avoid use in untreated local nasal infections.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, nasal irritation, sore throat, and occasional nosebleeds. Rarely, nasal septum perforation or increased intraocular pressure may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed. Inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Long-term use may suppress the immune system. Monitor for signs of local infection or systemic corticosteroid effects in prolonged use.
Therapeutic Class:
Corticosteroid nasal spray for allergic rhinitis
Storage Conditions:
Store below 30°C. Protect from sunlight and freezing. Keep upright and out of reach of children.
