Indications:
DEFLUX MELTAB 10MG is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of nausea, vomiting, bloating, early satiety, and other signs of delayed gastric emptying and functional dyspepsia.
Pharmacology:
This formulation contains Domperidone, a peripheral dopamine (D2) receptor antagonist. It enhances gastrointestinal motility and accelerates gastric emptying without affecting gastric secretions. The melt-in-mouth format allows for faster onset of action, especially useful when swallowing is difficult.
Dosage:
Adults and adolescents (12 years and above): 10 mg up to three times daily, preferably before meals.
Maximum daily dose: 30 mg unless otherwise directed by a physician.
Administration:
Place the tablet on the tongue and allow it to dissolve. No water is required. Should be taken 15–30 minutes before meals.
Interaction:
May interact with potent CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, erythromycin), increasing the risk of QT prolongation. Avoid concurrent use with such drugs.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to domperidone
Gastrointestinal bleeding, obstruction, or perforation
Patients with moderate to severe hepatic impairment
Known QT prolongation or cardiac conditions
Side Effects:
Generally well-tolerated. Possible side effects include dry mouth, headache, dizziness, abdominal cramps, and rare cardiac arrhythmias.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Caution is advised during lactation, although domperidone passes into breast milk in low quantities.
Precautions & Warnings:
Not suitable for children under 12 without medical advice. Use with caution in elderly patients or those with cardiac issues. Long-term use should be avoided without monitoring.
Therapeutic Class:
Anti-emetic; Gastroprokinetic agents
Storage Conditions:
Store below 25°C in a dry place. Protect from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
